⇒ DISCRIPTION;This is a small to me-
dium-sized evergreen tree. The
parts exude a milky latex when in-
jured. All young parts have dense
reddish brown hairs. The leaves
are glossy dark green and leath-
ery. The flowers are star-shaped,
white and scented, and appear in
October. The fruit is oval, fleshy, orange, with a persistent style attached to it.
⇒ USES; The fruit is edible, eaten by both humans and animals. A juice is prepared
from the fruit and can be used fresh or fermented. The fruit is commonly sold
in local markets in November and December.
