Central Support - Sevenoaks
Roaming Chefs
Our roaming chef team has increased; there are now 5 in total – 4 CDPs and 1 senior chef.
We have been receiving great feedback on how good they are “a fantastic support”, “great
ambassador for HPH”, “nice to have someone who knows HPH”. They are in great demand
so we have decided to recruit for one more to strengthen the team.
Level 2 & 3 Chef Modern Apprenticeships
We have been working with HIT Training to map the new apprenticeship standards to our
current training offering
HR Update
The annual HR Conference took place at Woodlands Park on 22/23 May 2017 and had a
jam-packed Agenda covering topics such as Hotel KPI Performance to date and the new
rolling retention statistics; apprenticeship levy; DG&C training; finance update and payroll
SOPs; recruitment; induction project; new HOD pack; competitor review and discussions on
service awards & recognition.
For a little light relief during the Conference, as it was such a beautiful
sunny day, the group took to the grounds to have an Agility
competition! This was designed by Keely Dobinson who is completely
agility addicted (pictured right)!
APPRENTICESHIP LEVY
The Government has promised 3 million new apprentices by 2020 and to assist with the
funding for these apprentices, the apprenticeship levy came into effect on 6 April 2017. The
levy applies to all employers in England who have an annual pay bill above £3m and the levy
is 0.5% of the employer’s annual pay bill. This money is collected by HMRC through PAYE
and then accessed through an apprenticeship online digital account and used to pay for
apprenticeship training. Hand Picked Hotels have an agreement with HIT Training who will
assist in identifying the best use of the funding in relation to diplomas across the business.
