COMMUNICATION REPORT
Digital media
• SAPPO’s digital media (regular updates, SAPPO News, infohub) are
becoming essential communication tools with members, developing
farmers, input suppliers, the media and other stakeholders. These messages
are mailed and send by SMS to mainly developing farmers.
• Our regular updates are widely read in South Africa, SAPPO News appears
end of every month and the info-hub is updated weekly.
• SAPPO’s special Corona Updates between 16 March and (by the time this
report was written, 1 April 2020) had 2 653 views in South Africa and 217 in
other countries (the UK, USA, Germany, Ireland the Netherlands, Zambia,
Australia, Belgium, Finland, Mozambique, Italy and Namibia).
• The #YesMrPresident campaign send out on 30 March had 1 487 views
locally and 119 in other countries (by 1 April).
• The info-hub had 9 726 views between 1 January 2020 and 31 March 2020.
Social campaign
SAPPO’s Facebook campaign #YesMrPresident provoked wide interest and
was launched on 2 April. We will provide feedback in our regular updates.
Digital finances
We collected R376 000 in digital sponsorships for the year.
Porcus
It is business as usual with regard to Porcus. The March/April issue was printed
before end of April and mailed to readers. A digital version also appears on
SAPPO’s infohub.
Function for advertisers/input suppliers
This function was placed on hold until further notice.
