What is it?
If It Fits Your Macros works by tracking macronutrients without
restricting food choices. Macros are the only place calories come
from so by hitting macros, users inherently hit weight loss calories, or
whatever goal they are trying to achieve.
This is a very easy and sustainable weight loss plan because it allows
for people to eat “whatever” they want, but they are limited to
quantity. They advocate that you can eat whatever you want - in the
right amounts - and still lose weight.
Why is it used?
The only thing that matters is calories in and calories out. And all food
sources are equal if the number of calories and macronutrients are
equal. So as long as you’re in a calorie deficit, weight loss will occur.
Advocates claim that eating clean, healthy food can certainly help you
lose weight and burn fat, but there is no magical connection between
‘health food’ and weight loss - the fat loss details are in the calories
and macros.
