The Paleo/Primal Diet


            What is it?


            Advocates of the Paleo Diet claim that it is the “healthiest” way you
            can eat. It “works with genetics” to help you stay lean, strong, and
            energetic by eating the same foods our hunter-gatherer ancestors
            supposedly ate fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and nuts.


























            Why is it used?


            Proponents of the diet claim it lessens the body’s glycemic load, has a
            healthy ratio of saturated-to-unsaturated fatty acids, increases vitamin
            and nutrient consumption, and contains an optimal balance of protein,
            fat, and carbohydrates.

            Benefits include improved blood lipids, weight loss, and reduced
            pain from autoimmunity. It may also be beneficial for diabetes and
            cardiovascular disease. These benefits are optimized by decreasing
            foods that are at odds with our body for health and increasing foods
            that increase our vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
