Chapter 6
An Unexpected Encounter

One day the Professor asked me to go to a
surveyor’s office in Whanganui to deliver a package
and I wound up having to leave right away. His lawyer
and his wife were coming from Palmerston North for a
meeting and he couldn’t go to Whanganui himself. He
seemed to have lots of confidence in me, but I sure
didn’t and really dreaded the thought of getting back
on the road.

I had been very happy with my new surroundings
in rural Manawatu and especially happy that I did not
have to go anywhere in my car. More so, if I never had
to drive again! But off I went, praying all the way.
