What this is called is Shadow. In the next chapter we're going to talk about how we
identify our shadow and how we then use that to uncover the parts of ourselves that
we don't want to see. The parts of ourselves that we actively avoid and we're not
aware of.
As mentioned earlier my journey started with an internal crisis. I didn’t know who I
was, where I was going, what I was doing, or how I was going to turn things around.
What did I do?
I got curious.
How do I do this thing called life? How do I find out how to ‘do life’ when no one has
ever really shown me how?
It’s not that I don’t have parents or role models. It is just that I knew that what they
had was not what I wanted. Their choices in life didn’t resonate with me. I often found
myself wondering, what was it all for? If that was the end goal, why bother? It isn’t
just my parents though.
It seemed to me that wherever I looked in my life, all I saw were a lot of people
dissatisfied with their lives and the world that we lived in. Owning a house, having a
family, and building a career. Working for someone else seemed to bring so much
emptiness to so many people around me. It made me realise that in order for me to
find what I need for fulfillment in my life I needed to find another way.
