2019 Annual Report
During the summer of 2019, we had a break from traditional curriculum resources and focused on the movie
Wonder. Dr. Wayne Dyer famously wrote, “When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose
kind.” This was the crux of 2019 summertime’s movie, and we could see the positive effect it had on the Church
School kids. Kindness was the golden thread weaved into our daily lives.
We are also proud to announce that our Church School Shephard initiative went wonderful with the support
and assistance of Annalies Lauber. This position of Church School Shepherd has been brought to life to provide
additional mature Christian presence and care for the children of Trinity. This presence and care will radiate the
love of God in Jesus Christ and help the children to grow in the grace and knowledge of Him as Saviour, Lord,
and Friend. In particular, there is great hope that the Church School Shepherd will deepen their awareness of,
and relationship to the children not only with the classroom setting per se but also within all aspects of
congregational life, work, and witness.”
(Messy Church) Precious Prayer Time: Antoinette also presented a special time together on Saturday morning,
th
July 6 entitled Precious Prayer Time. It was the first launch into the world of ‘Messy Church’, an
intergenerational worship and fellowship focused ministry model. During this time those present delved deeper
into the wonderful concept of prayer based on Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my household, we will serve the
Lord.” Together they discussed famous quotes on prayer, made lovely bookmarks, prayed and shared a good
meal.
Nursery Care: throughout 2019 Heidi Tieu continued her excellent service and care of our littlest children. Heidi
is now a graduate of Ryerson University’s Early Childhood Education degree. Heidi’s consistent and attentive
presence ensures that every week our infant and very young children are protected, nourished and loved.

The Annual Celebration and Recognition of Church School was held within worship on Sunday, June 9 .
Together with the leadership of Dr. Tori Smit, Regional Minister for Faith Formation, The Synod of Central,
Northeastern, Ontario and Bermuda, Antoinette Matthee and Heidi Tieu it was an amazing day for the
congregation to acknowledge the children in our Church School. The children of our Church School are our
future, and it was wonderful to take some time and celebrate their goodness, faithfulness, and joy. This
celebration, like every aspect of the Christian Education we offer to children and youth bears witness to Trinity’s
unwavering commitment to honour its baptismal vows.
Youth and Young Adult Ministries came alive in May as Michael Gomiega began serving as Trinity’s Coordinator
of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. Michael reports:
“To be able to engage and revitalize the presence of our Youth and Young Adults at Trinity is a role I take on
with great joy. In the summer we had a wonderful time at the Art Gallery of Ontario’s After Three Program,
