MISSIONS MINISTRY
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these … You did for me”
Matthew 25:40
Toronto City Mission
The Ministry has continued to support the efforts of TCM and their afterschool
programming for mothers and children of low-income families. We also supported their
summer camp program which had been negatively impacted as a result of some
government policy changes. We provided $2,000 in order to support twenty children at
their day camp during the summer. We have provided an additional $5,000 for their
winter programing.
OASIS
The Ministry members continue to believe strongly in the outstanding work carried on
by Oasis for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts in the Toronto area. They are one
of the most successful organizations not only in rehabilitating individuals but also in
finding them future employment. We have contributed $5,000 to Oasis this year and
we expect to continue to do so in the future.
Food Bank Outreach
The Ministry has continued to support the food bank operated by St. Stephen’s
Presbyterian Church located at Lawrence and Markham Road in Scarborough. We
provided food on four occasions throughout the year including Easter, Thanksgiving, and
Christmas in support of their ongoing work in the Scarborough area. We also provided
$2,000 by way of Missions Ministry funds to help carry them through the summertime and
into the new year.
Kids to Camp
This year we were able to raise almost $5,000 for our Kids to Camp program, unfortunately,
falling approximately $1,000 short of our goal. However, we were still able to send funds to
Camp Ke-Mon-Oya for two campers for several weeks of overnight camping, five campers to
the Cairn Family of Camps, 15 children to the Toronto City Mission Camp, and we supported
10 children at the Trinity Arts Camp. We also forwarded $500 to the Cairn Family of Camps
in support of the purchase of a new stove that they required.
