them that she was sad that they did not come to her
party and she invited them in for a drink. For a
moment James thought he saw an air of satisfaction
and a dangerous reddish glow in Thomas' eyes as
they entered the house, James had never seen
Thomas with such a look before and thought he had
seen wrong. They talked for a long time and James
noticed that Thomas was not touching his glass,
which was filled with his favorite soda. When James
pointed it out to him, he pretended to drink, but just
as the liquid was about to touch his lips, he
exclaimed,

“Oh, by the way, did you hear all those weird
stories in the forest next door?” James seemed to be
the only one of the three who had never heard of
them. Thomas then showed him some articles on his
phone about all the paranormal and inexplicable
events that had happened in that forest. After
reading the articles, the doorbell rang.

“Ah, there are just the ghosts of the forest
ringing” Thomas said.

But when Kate opened the door, James would a
thousand times rather have seen a monstrous ghost
than the person standing in front of the house.

“Charlie! What are you doing here?” Kate exclaimed.
