slightest noise, they jumped and were terrified.
When these little noises stopped, then came a heavy
and threatening silence which was even more
frightening than the little noises, no one dared to
speak. Their walk seemed interminable, James
couldn't tell how long they had been gone, his watch
had strangely stopped working when he entered the
forest. After a long walk Thomas cried out: “Hide
quickly!” I heard a noise a little further away, there's
something there.

James, Kate and Charlie were surprised because none
of them had heard a noise. But Thomas seemed so
sure of himself that they all followed him into the
hiding place. Once in the hiding place Thomas
suggested: “We have to go and see what's going on,
James come with me.”

“Uh wait, it might be dangerous... you... you don't
want us to wait a little?” James replied suspiciously.

“Come on James don't be scared.”

“I can come instead if you want. I'm brave enough to
come with you," Charlie answered in a trembling
voice that showed all his concern, the furtive look he
had given Kate when he said that explained his
intervention.
