Chapter 20
                Game of Luck

“Diligence is the mother of good luck.” – Benjamin Franklin

What is luck? Is there really anything called luck?

I have heard so many people saying so many times that they failed

because luck did not favour them. There are a few sayings like,
‘Before time and more than luck, nobody gets anything’, “Chance
favors the prepared mind.” Some people give a lot of importance to
luck; some put their faith in astrology while some concentrate on
                what their palm lines say.

I do not want to tell you anything which I cannot prove. If I want to tell

you that there is nothing called luck, then you do not have to believe
me, and even if I tell you that luck is a very strong factor, even then
you do not have to believe me. Let us try to understand what do we
                mean by the word ‘luck’.

There was an international level volleyball player who lost one of her

limbs (a leg) in an accident. On the day when this incident took
place, people started wondering what will happen next. They said all
kinds of things like- she had bad luck, may God not make anyone
else go through such a fate etc. But later on, she went on to reach
the peak of Mount Everest. She earned fame all around the world,
along with a lot of money and good wishes. I wonder what people
have to say about this now. Will they continue to say that she had

bad luck? Without the accident, the girl would have never reached
