A new 'Trunk' tradition

Sheppard,
retired edi-
tor of the Sanger Herald.
“My initial reaction — dis- belief,” said Sheppard of being named grand marshal for both parades. “Then I realized it re- ally wasn't about me anyway. It was about the body of work ac- complished during 15 years at the Herald and it would be okay to accept on behalf of people who contributed to that body of work on behalf of the good people of the City of Sanger. Out little town is a better place because of them. .”
Sheppard was born in Okla- homa and came to California in the 1930 with his family. He attended elementary schools in Linnel and Exeter before mov- ing to Dinuba, where he attend- ed junior high and graduated from Dinuba High School.
Just one week after graduat- ing from high school, he enlist- ed in the U.S. Army. His basic training at Ford Ord led him to a military intelligence group – the United States Army Secu- rity Agency.

embraces
Dia de los
Muertos
A young Dinuba Branch Library visitor carefully painted a paper skull during the library’s second an- nual Dia de los Muertos workshop on Oct. 29. According to Dinuba li- brarian Stephanie Buckridge, last year’s event drew so many people that they decided this year to open up the entire library for the event. Stations were spread throughout the library with various Dia de los Muertos activities and crafts for all ages. On Friday, Nov. 1, the library is expecting another large crowd as they will be hosting a Mexican Lo- teria (bingo) event. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m.
