Did you know that…?
• Recent studies show that for every man earning $100, a woman earns an
average of $77.
• Iceland is frontrunner of the most gender equal countries in the world.
• A new reform was put into effect in Japan requiring trading companies to
include a gendered list of average wages in the company, in addition to listing
the number of men who take childcare leave.
• In the United States, a historic revision was performed in women’s football
whereby women’s wages were rendered equal to men’s wages.
• In 2011 the European Council signed the “Istanbul Treaty” which endorsed
eradicating violence against women and domestic violence – 45 counties
signed and endorsed the treaty. According to this treaty, women undergoing
and expecting to experience excessive violence may be classified as refugees.
