The Fixit Cor ner : TR 6 Engine Out Rebuild, Part 3

                                                                                                      with Todd Fontechia

T he block, crankshaft, and pistons are
ST IL L at USA M otor and M achine.

They have finally gotten around to measuring
the cylinder bores after being in the shop for
two months now. Turns out one of the cylinder
bores is worn a little past tolerance and will
need to be bored. The problem is, USA Motor
does not have a small enough boring tool to do
the job, and the block had to be sent to another
         shop.
Then I lost another four days before they got
back to me to let me know they needed the new
pistons so they could measure them before the
boring process could begin. Add another four
days for shipping from British Parts
Northwest--who by the way-- always throws
some candy in the box when they ship your
         parts! Score!

They are supposed to bore the block, polish the
         crankshaft journals and check bearing
clearances (I dropped off the new bearings with
the pistons) and do the head valve job next
week. Fingers crossed!! Then I can start putting
         it all back together.

The dist ribut or showed up from Advanced
Distributors in Minnesota fully rebuilt and
re-curved to take advantage of the new engine
upgrades. Jeff is a true distributor guru and has
been very helpful along the way.

Turns out, my distributor housing was cracked
almost completely through where the head meets
