Uses
• Lipid lowering activity.
• Standardized guggul extracts are approved in India for lowering elevated
serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Uses described in pharmacopoeias:
• Treatment of atheroscelerosis, rheumatic conditions, and
menopausal syndrome.
Side effects:
It causes the thyroid to increase iodine uptake and increase production of thyroid
hormones
