Overcoming Anger
Do not be quick ly pro voked in your spir it, for an ger re sid es
in the lap of fools. (Ecclesiastes, 7:9)
A pa tient man has great un der stand ing, but a quick-tem -
pered man dis plays fol ly. (Proverbs, 14:29)
A quick-tem pered man does fool ish things... (Proverbs, 14:17)
If a rul er's an ger ris es against you, do not leave your post;
calm ness can lay great er rors to rest. (Ecclesiastes, 10:4)
A gift giv en in se cret sooth es an ger. (Proverbs, 21:14)
Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away an ger. If a
wise man goes to court with a fool, the fool ra ges and scoffs,
and there is no peace. (Proverbs, 29:8-9)

... Do not fret when men suc ceed in their ways, when they
