WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH






                           Doing Good and Turning from Evil

                     Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pur sue it.
                     (Psalms, 34:14)


                     Do not op press the wid ow or the fa ther less, the al ien or the
                     poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each oth er. (Zechari-
                     ah, 7:10)

                     Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God
                     Almighty will be with you, just as you say He is. (Amos, 5:14)

                     Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land

                     for ev er. (Psalms, 37:27)

                     Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.
                     This will bring health to your body and nour ish ment to your
                     bones. (Proverbs, 3:7-8)

                     He who seeks good finds good will, but evil comes to him
                     who search es for it. The fruit of the right eous is a tree of life,
                     and he who wins souls is wise. (Proverbs, 11:27, 30)


                     Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan
                     what is good find love and faith ful ness. (Proverbs, 14:22)

                     Hate evil, love good... (Amos, 5:15)

                     A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hot -

                     head ed and reck less. (Proverbs, 14:16)

                     An or a cle is with in my heart con cern ing the sin ful ness of the
                     wick ed: There is no fear of God be fore his eyes. For in his own
                     eyes he flat ters him self too much to de tect or hate his sin. The
