words of his mouth are wick ed and de ceit ful; he has ceased to
be wise and to do good. Even on his bed he plots evil; he com -
mits him self to a sin ful course and does not re ject what is
wrong. (Psalms, 36:1-4)
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and en joy
safe pas ture. (Psalms, 37:3)
Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in
wick ed deeds with men who are evil do ers... Let a right eous
man strike me—it is a kind ness; let him re buke me—it is oil on
my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ev er
against the deeds of evil do ers. (Psalms, 141:4-5)
He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will re -
ward him for what he has done. (Proverbs, 19:17)
Tell the right eous it will be well with them, for they will en -
joy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wick ed! Disaster is up -
on them! They will be paid back for what their hands have
done. (Isaiah, 3:10-11)
Therefore, O King, be pleased to ac cept my ad vice: Renounce
your sins by do ing what is right, and your wick ed ness by be -
ing kind to the op pressed. It may be that then your pros per i -
ty will con tin ue. (Daniel, 4:27)
... Your sins have de prived you of good. Among My peo ple
are wick ed men... Like cag es full of birds, their hous es are full
of de ceit; they have be come rich and pow er ful and have
grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no lim it; they do
not plead the case of the fa ther less to win it, they do not de -
fend the rights of the poor. (Jeremiah, 5:25-28)
