Exercise 54. Put the verbs into the correct tenses.
*** According to the rumours, there (to be) an opening at Nova Poshta. (not to
worry)! I (to be) on it and (to find) out more details. I (to guess) they (to look)
for a goal-oriented and persuasive sales manager who (to be) willing (to
relocate) and (to work) 24/7. On one hand, it (to be) a brilliant opportunity for
Richard! However, he (to have to) (to brush) up his interview skills. What (to
be) he busy with these days? Hopefully, your sibling (to understand) the
importance of (to have) a full-time job. For instance, my neighbor Dillan (not
to have) a steady source of income, as he has always had some menial jobs. On
top of that, he (to be) notoriously known as a job hopper; hence, not a single
employer (to hire) him any time soon! Actually, nowadays more and more
persistent and diligent rookies (to research) common interview questions in
order (to impress) the HR managers in an interview. How many skills (to have)
your brother? If those are the few, then he (had better/would rather/should) (to
stop) (to watch) TV all day long and (to talk) on the phone with his unemployed
friends! Moreover, he (should/had better/would rather) send CVs 5-8 times a
day. The good news is that Linda has told me recently that Richard (to work)
on his cover letter tomorrow. On the second thought I (to help) him! In fact, I
(to text) right now so we (can/could) (to discuss) his current situation. ***
Exercise 61. Watch the video 1.6 and answer the questions.
         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNgB-j4-5HY
         Answer the questions:
      1. What do you answer when asked about your salary?
      2. Do you think your colleagues get paid fairly well or on the contrary they have
inappropriately excessive financial reward at work?
      3. Should you know how much others get paid?
      4. Who can you tell about your income?
      5. What would happen if we removed that secrecy? What if openness actually
increased the sense of fairness and collaboration inside a company?
How much do you get paid (платят)? Don’t answer that outloud (вслух). But
put the number in your head. Now: how much do you think the person sitting
next to you gets paid (платят)? Again, don’t answer out loud (вслух). At
work, how much do you think the person sitting in the cubicle (кабинка) or
the desk next to you gets paid? Do you know? Should you know? Notice, it is
a little uncomfortable for me to even ask you those questions. But admit
(признайте) it – you kind of want to know. Most of us are uncomfortable with
the idea of broadcasting our salary (говорить всем о зарплате). We’re not
supposed (мы не должны) to tell our neighbours, and we’re definitely
(точно) not supposed to tell our office neighbours. The assumed reason
(предполагаемая причина) is that if everybody knew what everybody got
