• In the event of legitimate health problems, the pet may not be brought to that area.
• Otherwise, employees are encouraged to work together to find a reasonable
compromise that is acceptable to everyone.
Welcome well-behaved pets:
• It's crucial that dogs have at least basic obedience skills.
• Consider your pet's temperament. If your pet is extremely shy, the workplace can be
overwhelming. If your pet is not confident around strangers or has a history of
aggressive behavior, leave your pet at home. Pets are to wear a leash and be under
control of owner at all times.
• Distracting barking, whining and howling are verboten.
• You might consider bringing a supply of chew toys to keep your pet from getting bored
or disruptive. Avoid squeaky toys!
• Indoor "Accidents" must be avoided.
• Housebroken is essential. The indoor work environment must be kept free of puppy
pads, litter boxes, etc.
• NWF must establish a "one strike and you're out" rule, insisting that pets stay home
after an indoor accident.
Forbidden Areas:
• Pets must remain in owners workstation or immediate vicinity and not be allowed to
wander about the building.
• Pets are not allowed in Conference Rooms, Bathrooms, and Lunch Room/Kitchen areas.
Curb Your Pet Outside of the Building:
• Pet owners must avoid the front of the building and Habitat areas during their pet's
bathroom break.
• Pet owners must clean up after their pet to remove all "deposits.”
