Unless state or local laws dictate otherwise, personnel files are the property of the National
        Wildlife Federation, and access to them is restricted.  Generally, only supervisors and
        management personnel of NWF who have a legitimate reason to review information in a file
        are allowed to do so.


        Medical information on individual employees is treated confidentially.  NWF will take
        reasonable precautions to protect such information from inappropriate disclosure.  Managers
        and other employees have a responsibility to respect and maintain the confidentiality of
        employee medical information.  Anyone inappropriately disclosing such information is subject
        to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment and legal redress.


        If you wish to review your personnel file contact the Human Resources Department.  With
        reasonable advance notice, you may review your own personnel file in NWF's offices and in
        the presence of an individual appointed by NWF to maintain the files.  If you are in a Field
        Staff Office, contact the Human Resources Department to arrange for review of your file.



        Employment Reference and Verification Checks



        To ensure that individuals who join the organization are well qualified and have a strong
        potential to be productive and successful, it is the policy of NWF to check the employment

        references of all applicants.

        The Human Resources Department will respond to all reference check inquiries from other
        employers and all employment verifications.  Responses to such inquiries will confirm only
        dates of employment, wage rates, and position(s) held.  If supervisors receive these requests,
        they must be forwarded to the Human Resources Department.


        Personnel Data Changes



        It is your responsibility to promptly notify NWF of any changes in personnel data.  Personal


        mailing addresses, name changes, telephone numbers, number and names of dependents,

        marital status change, individuals to be contacted in the event of an emergency, educational
        accomplishments, and other such status reports must be accurate and current at all times.
        These changes should be reported to the Human Resources department.


        If the address changes to other states, you must complete new state forms.
