Bara Brith ~ Donalda Plowman

This mixture is for 1 lb loaf tin.
Our Mamgu and Aunty Lyn used to make a larger loaf, buttering it
first before cutting it very slowly against their bodies and cut so thin
that our fingers poked through, so we were ready for the next slice
        before they had cut it!

        Ingredients:
        8 oz mixed fruit
        3 oz soft brown sugar
        ½ tablespoon marmalade
        ½ mug strong tea
        8 oz self-raising flour
        ½ teaspoon mixed spice
        pinch salt
        1 lightly beaten egg
little milk if needed Starters | Soups | Main Meals | Desserts | Cakes | Biscuits, etc

        Method:

              overnight. Stir with metal spoon
