Chapter 1 MARKETING 13
Signs:
This is the most overlooked opportunity to advertise, with little expense or effort
involved. Remember to apply continuity with your other printed materials regarding
logo, color scheme, general design and layout for all your Signs. Depending on the
size, location and type of project, consider multiple sign locations if feasible.
Project Sign:
All projects should have an identifying sign. These signs will not only identify
your project but also afford a billboard to display your company throughout the duration of the
project. Controlling the Project Sign is most important in ensuring the best marketing locations
and the prominent display of your company.
Project Signs that will include the names of all-major subcontractors, suppliers and
design professionals should have a layout that shows your company as the central figure. Signs
that include many different party’s names, should always contain your standard full size sign,
with all the other parties names listed as single line entries on an adjacent separate sign. An
advantage of these combined name signs is the opportunity for cost sharing by the parties
identified.
To maintain control and avoid problems with indiscriminate signs on your projects we
suggest a Sign Policy Control Clause in your subcontracts. To ensure control of this important
marketing tool we suggest that all prime contracts include a simple clause giving full control
over any Project Signs to the Builder.
Before installing any Project Signs we suggest that the locations selected give the best
continuous exposure and not require relocation throughout the duration of the project.
Remember, that a single or multiple prime location on a continual daily basis for your Project
Sign is the objective
