BEYOND BASICS

                                CHAPTER 6

                              OFFENSIVE CONCEPTS

Yakima, Washington, circa 1980 in the Grand Championship match
with Dan “Super Dan” Anderson, he launched a simultaneous
Kick-Punch technique. Shocked the heck outta me! I expect to see
           combinations, but a simultaneous Kick-Punch combination? That’s
a tough one to defend against! Now we've all done those
simultaneous Kick-Punch drills in class, but this was the first time
I ever saw anyone do one, in competition no less. He missed by
           the way!

Point Four is the most challenging but
once mastered will become a significant
                                    part of your arsenal.

Seeing this started my thinking and was the impetus for
development of the "Five Point Drill".

The Five Point Drill states that there is a maximum of five points
during a kicking action where a hand technique can be applied.
The basic Front Kick is the simplest way to illustrate the five points.
Imagine a rear leg Front Kick which lands forward. Then imagine
that Front Kick as an arc. Divide that arc into five equal points
