Oblivious to their smiles, Dan continued, “Effective communication is not only what to

say but even more importantly about how to say it and what not to say.” He paused and

made eye contact with almost all of them. “Nothing could have explained it better than what

               we just witnessed.”

“If there are no other questions or comments, let us quickly review the summary of our

agreements and action steps.” The meeting was adjourned 15 minutes later.

Dan was immensely pleased with himself and how he conducted the meeting and the

training. More importantly, he was extremely excited about how the conflict was resolved. In

a way he wanted to thank Tom for creating a learning opportunity for all, but it was quite

concerning too; he was undecided whether Tom’s action was justified notwithstanding his

               later explanation.

‘Did Rob really give him a reason to lose it? I am not sure. I have to assess in detail.’ Despite the

learning opportunity, the event had discolored an otherwise cheerful day. In that somber

mood he walked into the cafeteria for lunch.
