The descriptors for each of these values are personal to me. Each individual must define
them as they see appropriate based on their own beliefs.”
“Do individual values have to align with company values?” asked Dan.
“They generally would with some minor exceptions as these 5 values are quite generic. I
have not seen any company that does not believe in the essence of these; the words and
descriptors are often different.”
“Agree? Can we move on?” He continued as Dan nodded.
“Let us now answer your question. Leadership is probably the most used corporate word.
I qualify it with ‘Bold’ – Bold Leadership. A Bold Leader is Visionary, Entrepreneur,
Transformer, and Coach.”
“Bold means creating a vision that challenges, inspires, engages and energizes. Bold means
developing stretching, time-bound objectives/ goals and choosing the right strategies to
deliver them. Bold means predicting and building required people, system, and process
capability. Bold means getting ‘more with less’. Bold means anticipating and leading change to
create & sustain competitive advantage. Bold means confidence to take informed risks. Bold
means making timely decisions using data as well as gut. Bold means not only laser-like focus
on the work to deliver aligned objective and goals but standing up to say NO to things that
may divert or distract the resources.”
“Bold does not mean fearless or reckless but courageous, knowledge-based leadership,
rooted in certain skills.”
