Monday started uneventfully. As Dan sat in the car to drive to work, his upcoming meeting

with Tom was the only thought. He wanted to do it right.

‘I hope he will not hang me up today! He has confirmed that he will be there and there is no email either.’

‘I must not screw up this time. I must ensure that Tom has complete background and the context of why I

am explaining these things. Intent, as I learnt, must be clear to avoid any misunderstanding. But first I must

resolve the conflict that has been created by our first meeting’

Dan walked into the office and found Tom waiting, looking somewhat anxious. ‘He is still

worried about our last botched up meeting and doesn’t want more of the same.’ Dan thought.

“Good Morning Tom” he said, enthusiastically shaking his hand. “Thanks for coming early

on Monday morning. I really appreciate it.”

“Good Morning Dan. It is not a problem.” Tom’s tone was polite but had a hint of

disapproval as if saying, ‘did I have a choice Boss!’

“This may take long Tom, so let us get some coffee and go into a huddle room.” Dan

added. He dropped his bag on the side table, pulled some sheets out and took Tom’s arm as

they walked towards the pantry.

Once they were settled in the huddle room, Dan looked Tom in the eye and said, “I want

to first apologize for the dissatisfying meeting last week. I goofed!”
