Narrative Story
My Fighter
Pet
One day, I
was lying in bed and
“BOO!” my grandfa-
ther scared me and
said, “Let’s go out
Ivaan.” My grandfa-
ther wanted to take
me shopping to buy
me things. I said,
“Grandpa, can I buy
a new pet please?”
“What kind of pet do
you want, Ivaan, a dog or a cat?” asked my grandfather. “Don't you have enough pets
already?” He added. “Neither of the two grandpa, I want a tough fighter fish this time. I
want a friend for my other fish.” I replied. He agreed to my request but made me prom-
ise that I would take care of it.
We went to the pet store and bought a fish. I brought the fish home and I put it in
the fish bowl with my two other gold fishes. My grandpa looked at it and said, “Ivaan,
the fishes are not going to fit in one bowl. We need a bigger tank. The fishes will not
have enough space to move around.” I did not listen to him and insisted on keeping all
three fishes in the same fish bowl. I thought a bigger fish tank would cost a lot of money
and I didn't want my grandpa to spend more money on it.
The next morning, I got up early and went to meet my fish friends but I was shocked to
see that one of the goldfish was not moving. It was wounded. The new fighter fish had
wounded the goldfish. I screamed,”Grandpa, Look! The fighter fish hurt my goldfish!”
Grandpa came and explained to me that the habitat was not comfortable for the fishes
and the fighter fish got unhappy and hurt the other fish. He taught me that all living
creatures need to live in their natural habitat but if we take them out of it then we have
to make a comfortable living space for them, just like their natural habitat.
We went to the pet store again and bought a bigger tank for all the fishes to swim happi-
ly. Sadly my wounded goldfish did not survive but I promised my grandpa that I would
not buy more fish unless there is enough space for them to live comfortably.
