PARTICULAR ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION
                                 Version 2014-2

Provide photographic records to support all observations.

As part of the inspection produce marked-up layouts indicating the location of existing
kitchen equipment outlets, rating and circuit number if available, smoke detection devices,
fire alarm call points, etc. socket outlets in the lobby area, potential locations for new
                      distribution equipment as necessary.

If the viability of the existing installation is determined to be questionable, make
arrangements for and carry out tests as necessary to confirm compliance with the
                      requirements of BS 7671.

The Contractor shall in all cases carry out insulation, loop impedance, polarity and current
injection tests or otherwise as necessary to demonstrate compliance with requirements of
BS 7671 prior to connecting, adapting or extendin g any retained existing wiring installation.

Where single-line diagrams are found on site they are to be verified by inspection and
marked as superseded where the installation has been modified.

               1.4.2 Inspection of Existing Services

               1.4.2.1 Wiring Systems

The wiring systems in McDonalds Restaurants will vary dependant on the age of the
                      installations.

These will generally comprise a combination of either:

                       • PVC single core cables drawn into steel or plastic conduits and cable trunking
                       • multicore cabling laid on cable trays
                       • lighting busbar equipment connecting to Rendar multiway IEC type plug-in connectors
                           feeding the lighting array

Where PVC single core cables are found in steel/plastic conduits and cable trunking with
plug-in ceiling roses used to make the connection to the lighting equipment then an
inspection must be made to determine that separate ‘circuit protective conductors’
(CPC’s)have been installed with each circuit.

If it is found that CPC’s are not installed then this wiring system must NOT be re-used and a
new distribution must be installed. All redundant wiring must be isolated and removed .

Where it is intended to re-use plug-in ceiling roses the sockets and plugs should be checked,
if any are found with signs of overheating or other damage then they must be re placed.

Where multiple pole lighting bus-bar is to be re-used the contractor shall check that the
fuses in the tap-off units are correctly sized and the correct pin arrangement is selected to
feed the various stages of the lighting equipment and the emerge ncy lighting circuit.
