2.10.2 Luminaire Fixings
Luminaires shall be fixed and supported using the following methods: -
Luminaire Fixing Methods
Recessed downlighters Direct into suspended ceiling 8mm ply board
to be bonded to the back of the ceiling tile to
support the luminaries
Surface mounted fluorescent luminaries Self tapping screws fixed through ceiling tile
on Burgess Metal Ceiling to 6mm ply board bonded on back of ceiling
tile
Surface mounted fluorescent luminaries Fixed to suspended ceiling tee bars via
on suspended ceiling purpose made “caddy clips”
Surface mounted fluorescent luminaires Fixed via 2 No heavy duty steel jack chains to
in store, switch room, plantroom roof purlins by Ward Bros. purlin clips
Recessed downlighter external canopy Fixed to 6mm ply wood board within soffit
area framing
Surface mounted luminaries in plant Fixed direct to Besa conduit box
area on roof
Wall lighting in restaurant area Fixed direct to wall by 2 No 8 RH screw and
plug
Surface mounted emergency luminaries Fixed through ceiling tile to 6mm ply board
on suspended ceiling bonded to back of ceiling tile
Surface luminaires mounted on suspended ceiling shall be connected as detailed above
except that the flex shall enter the luminaires via a small hole in the ceiling and a bushed
entry into the luminaire. Luminaires shall be located such to mask the hole in the ceiling.
A 30mm gap shall be maintained between the ends of adjacent surface mounted
fluorescent luminaires, to allow diffusers to be removed for cleaning and lamp
replacement.
