Title : Susan’s Unforgettable Day
A body covered with blood had dyed the dirt and sand red, the rain fell from the void
like darkness of the night. A person was kneeling on the ground, punching the dirt like there is
no tomorrow while crying non-stop. The drenched, soaked shirt and the droplets that were
sliding down the body represented the efforts of the earth trying to calm down but to no avail.
Susan was walking from the store to her house during a stormy night. She had forgotten
to buy some groceries for the night party hosted at her house for her husband’s long awaited
promotion. She had a lot of bags to carry from the store back home. At that moment, she really
regretted for not driving to the store as she thought that the store is near enough to the house
and there was no point driving there. While she was scrambling and trying to get all groceries
home, she received a phone call from an unknown number.
She picked up the call and heard a policeman talking to an unknown person on the line.
“Hi there, is this Madam Susan? We regret to inform you that your husband is no longer with
us. Please come to the field in front of your house.”
As the handphone went silent, the can of tomato sauce that Susan was holding fell to
the ground, spilling all over the concrete just like Susan’s tears. Susan could not handle the
news she just heard that her husband had died.
It had been 20 years ago, Susan’s children had all started a family of their own. Susan
looked back at the days she had with her husband and went into a deep sleep. She will never
forget what happened that day.
