Vehicles that pose an operational risk to the employee or the public
must be removed from service immediately. Regular maintenance is
performed according to the manufacturers recommended mile or hour
allowance. Company vehicles are to be returned to the company
corporate office, shop, or hotel (if staying out of town) at the end of
scheduled use at the work sites. The vehicle is to be returned in
operating condition.
The tool box must remain locked at all times to safe guard the contents.
The insurance cards and the vehicle registration card must be kept in
the vehicle at all times. Do not remove these cards from the vehicle.
The Foreman of every crew is responsible for the implementation of
this Vehicle Policy.
Use of Personal Vehicles:
When an employee is late or is required to leave the worksite during
working hours, for non-work-related reasons, the employee is required
to provide their own personal means of transportation. All travel
expenses incurred during use of your personal vehicle are the sole
responsibility of the employee.
In cases of emergency, the Project Manager and/or Foreman will
provide the means to transport the employee as they deem necessary.
Employee Driving Records
Driving a company vehicle (or if there is a need to drive your
personal vehicle) is a requirement of all non-office related positions.
Employees are required to have and maintain a satisfactory driving
record as a condition of employment. Precision Underground
completes a check of an employee’s driving record prior to hire and
will check it periodically thereafter. Employees must report any
license suspensions, serious accidents or offenses, or any other
condition that may affect your ability to drive a Precision Underground
vehicle to the Project Manager or General Manager immediately. If an
employee is uninsurable to drive under the Company’s general policy,
the Company has the right to determine on a case by case basis if the
employee pay will be reduced or if termination is justified.
