“Good, then it must be a small one!” said Bells looking around in the direction
from which she thought she had heard the calling animal.

Ellie also looked around, but she looked up as well and saw a cat up a tree not

far from where they were sitting. “Up that tree, over there”, she cried, pointing
               upwards.

Now everyone looked and saw a poor cat stuck up a tree. It was a rather fine
looking long haired blue grey coloured cat which clearly had no business being
               stuck up a tree.

“We will have to get it down”, said Harry, wondering who would be brave
enough to climb the tree and rescue what might turn out to be a very unhappy
               pussy cat.

James agreed adding that if it was our cat we would want it rescued.

               “I’ll go”, said Bells.

The lowest branch was quite a way off the ground and so there was no way she

               could make a start.

“I will kneel down and you climb up and stand on my shoulders”, said Grandpa
who reckoned that should be enough to get her to the lowest branch.

Grandpa’s back was not the easiest thing to climb so Harry and James helped
Bells. Once on Grandpa’s shoulders, Grandpa had to stand up but being rather
old this was not easy. Harry and James helped by holding onto an arm each and
helping Grandpa get to his feet. Once up, Bells could reach the lowest branch

and pull herself up. She climbed and climbed until she was close to the poor cat.
It was not very happy to have a stranger quite so close while in such a difficult
position. Bells decided to talk gently to the cat and maybe gain its confidence.

After “poor pussy”, “what a lovely pussy you are”, “what brought you here?”
and other such comments, the cat relaxed and edged towards Bells. She
stretched out her left arm and started to stroke the cat while holding on to the

tree with her other arm. The cat seemed reassured by this attention and came
right up to Bells purring. She put her arm around the cat and pushed it towards
her shoulders. The cat obliged and sunk its claws into Bells’ t-shirt to hang on.
Slowly Bells climbed back down the tree which wasn’t easy with a cat on her
shoulders but Bells being Bells, she managed.

Grandpa positioned himself below the lowest branch and Bells stepped onto his
shoulders. Grandpa slowly knelt down and James and Harry attended to ensure
