Nobby hit back once more but this time Toby sent it straight back to him so he

charged down the pitch towards Annabel. Annabel lunged with her stick but
missed the ball and walloped Nobby’s legs. The whistle goes for a foul and
Nobby reeled in agony on the ground. Eventually Nobby got up and the free hit
was taken by Frank who sent it spinning through to Hugo. Jackson raced
towards him but Hugo slipped the ball inside to Nobby who in spite of Ellie’s

terrifying challenge headed for the goal. James held his nerve. The shot came.
James leapt to his left and landed with both legs together. The ball bounced off
him but unfortunately Nobby was following through and put the ball in the goal.
2-1. This was the only time that anyone got past James. Each shot was blocked
with his legs and then he kicked it as hard as he could to Ellie or Jackson who
sent it onto Annabel to set up the next attack. But 2-1 was the final score.

The team walked off the pitch jubilant and headed over to Grandpa. “What a
game! You were wonderful. Well played everybody”, said Grandpa. Later in
the afternoon they were awarded the cup for the best junior team. James said
that he really enjoyed being in goal and would like to do it again. Everyone
agreed that he played really well. They went home tired and very happy.
Granny produced ice cream, ginger beer and cakes for everyone.
