be sent to membership. The VAAD decided that in addition to minutes, members will be kept
informed of developments by monthly updates.
5. Beit Frankforter issues:
a. House committee: Kal has been managing the many demands of setting up the chairs, lights,
a/c, shabbat clocks, cleanup. He will form a committee to help with these responsibilities on
a rotation basis. Also, there is a plan to organize the bookshelves, place some items in
storage and arrange shelves as needed. We will need volunteers to help with this effort.
Also, a member has donated 25 siddurim/chumashim and another member has offered a
Ner Tamid. Another has offered a fan to cool the lobby.
b. The VAAD decided that masks will remain voluntary/encouraged in accordance with present
government regulations.
c. The VAAD decided that Shabbat morning tefillah start time will remain at 8:15. Also,
Shabbat mincha will be b’zman, followed by Ma’ariv at BF, since this facilitates rearranging
chairs, cleaning up and locking up BF after shabbat. It also allows a Shabbat afternoon shiur
given by various speakers. Rabbi Winkler has volunteered to organize the schedule of
Shabbat shiurim between mincha and maariv.
d. Kiddushim: Marilyn will prepare a protocol of guidelines for Kiddush, including instructions
for a KST sponsored kiddush and a privately sponsored Kiddush and a committee to help
with Kiddushim. This will be presented to the VAAD for approval.
e. Sefer Torah. A Sefer Torah has been made available to KST for long-term loan. Dovid will
arrange to have it checked. We will determine how to insure it or to use BF’s insurance. An
additional Sefer Torah may be available from a KST member.
f. Dvar Torah on Shabbat Morning, A proposal was made to institute a short dvar torah (5-8
minutes) every Shabbat morning. It was decided to only have a short Dvar Torah on
Shabbat Mevorchim after receiving input from the membership. Membership is requested
to send their opinions about this proposal to KST email 20albekparking@gmail.com.
g. Shomer/Greeter- Beit Frankforter requested that we have someone monitoring the
entrance since in the past they had problems with people who wandered into the building.
The VAAD agreed that we will continue to have a “greeter” (not a shomer) seated by the
door to welcome those who enter and provide help if needed. Women will also be asked to
serve as greeters. Anyone who prefers not to serve as greeter is, of course, welcome to
decline a request.
h. A question arose about whether Beit Frankforter has a defibrillator (AED). Although BF
applied for one from MDA, they did not get it as they did not qualify as a Beit Knesset during
