B-International Protection of Cultural Property in

               Time of Peace

1- The UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the

World Cultural and Natural Heritage (1972)

The 1972 Convention recognizes the interest and the duty of the

international community to participate in the protection of the

cultural and natural heritage. However, the duty of ensuring the

protection of such heritage belongs primarily to the States parties

that should establish national services, develop scientific research

and take all the necessary measures for the protection of this

               heritage.

In this respect, the 1972 Convention established the "World

Heritage Committee"; an Intergovernmental Committee for the

protection of the Cultural and Natural World Heritage Committee

established that title of "World Heritage List" to enumerate

               Tourism Legislations Page 88
