(h) Sltra and Sltra Terminal
The erection of thirteen new tanks and
appurtenances was the only major construction started during
the ye&r. .There were a few minor auditions made to the wharves
and causeway pier-head which included an installation of machin
ery for manufacture of Asphalt drums and installation of a new •
IS” fuel shipping line to the new wharf,
(i) Drum Plant
iio major alterations were made to the Drum
Plant; minor additions were carried out,
(j) Camp facilities
Additional employees necessitated increased
facilities in Av/ali. Thirteen two-bedroom detached houses
have been completed. Eight of the sixteen 1947 type duplex
houses are also.complete, others are nearing completion.
Construction has also started of 20 prefeerie?ted two bedroom
detached houses. The Native hospital including living quarters
is complete and operating. A project to install a pressurized
Zone C water system for gardening and fire fighting has been
started.

21. PETROLEUM CONCESSIONS LIMITED
During the year the geophysical survey party
under the supervision of Hr. Robert K. Ray continued operations
on the Truciai Coast. During January/Llarch they covered the
areqs of Ras al Khaimah, Dhaid and Sharjah. In Ras al Khaimah
they were obstructed by tribes feudatory to the Shaikh of Ras
al Khaimah, until the Shaikh made certain payments to them
from the money he was receiving from the Petroleum Concessions
Limited*
A reconnaissance was made to Burairai by the
Abu ^habi route and also via Ramlat Anaij*
The survey was continued in October when a line
was run from Haqte (fort at Abu Dhabi) to Buraimi via Bedah
al A jam and returning by the southern track via Bedah Hamraameh.
Jabal Haflt was surveyed, about two thirds of the mountain
bMng examined, and a line was also run from the north tip
eastwards to the main Oman range*
