The temple of Apollo (temple A) at Iaros. The two Persepolitan type columns are
positioned in the centre of the entrance of the temple lie at the Aslepieion at gos. At the
bacground, there is the cella and remains of the podium where the cult image of the god
was placed .The altar is positioned in front of the entrance as is the case of the temples of
Aslepios at Kos, Athens and Pergamon. (photo by author)
The Seleuids might even have This is attributed to Ptolemaios
wanted to counterbalance the Philadelphos' gratitude since his
presence of the cult of Aslepios mother, in 309308/ B.C., while
