B. Meat Exports Logistics
Meat is processed in slaughter/ packing houses of which two are in
Concepcion, two in the Chaco and the majority in Asuncion. About 40% of
the frozen meat is exported by land to the Pacific ports in Chile; parts stay
in that country and parts are exported oversees. The other 60% is
exported in reefers via the Paraguay River to ports located in Argentina
and Uruguay to be shipped overseas.
The total meat export in 2015 was over 400,000 tons delivered to over 40
countries from just over 100,000 tons in 2004.
Paraguayan beef is gaining the market due to its high quality and its
grass-fed origin. Refer to Figure 4: Meat Export Logistics.
