            A RARE SET OF FIVE SILVER BOXES   宋   銀蓋盒一套五件
            SONG DYNASTY
            of graduating size, each of cylindrical form with
            convex tops and bases and broad flattened
            bands at the rim, together with four small
            fragments of pearls and hardstones (11)
            height of tallest 3¾ in., 9.5 cm
            a number of plain silver boxes with domed
            covers, but flat bases, filled with cinnabar,
            jade, amber and quartz, and inscribed with
            descriptions of their contents, were excavated
            at hejiacun, Xi’an, in 1970, together with silver
            dishes, jars and other medical equipment, see
            Wenwu, no. 6, 1972, pls 4-5.
