RADICAL LOVE
Israelites from the Egyptian armies. The people also danced in 1
Samuel 18:6 when David defeated the Philistines.
For those reading this who have the gift of dance from the Lord, I
exhort you to continue—despite the opposition that will surely come.
Returning to the study and the end of chapter 6, notice how the
Shulamite fails to see this beauty that has so impacted the Zion
Maidens. Why is this? It is because she is veiled with a cloak of
humility. She only sees that her Bridegroom—self has been forgotten.
It is this life of adoration and worship that now influences others and
draws them to desire the King for themselves.
In the New International Version (NIV), verse 13 reads:
Friends: “Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may gaze
on you!”
He: “Why would you gaze on the Shulamite as on the dance of
Mahanaim?”
Mahanaim means two armies/camps and was the place where Jacob
was reunited with his brother Esau (see Genesis chapters 32:1–33:16
for the full story). It was also here that both the human and divine joined
together in harmonious cooperation. Why do I say that? If you have
already read what I suggested above, you will be familiar with the topic
I am talking about. However, if not, then let’s look at what it says in
Genesis 32:1–2 (AMP): “Then Jacob went on his way, and God’s
