development, regardless of race, status, gender, sex, ethinicity, or affiliations as
indicated in the ISU EEOP.
6. The University shall encourage its faculty members to pursue relevant local and
foreign-assisted training/scholarship grants, attend seminars, conferences,
workshops or related human resource development courses.
7. Selection of participants in training programs shall be based on actual needs for
specialization and enhancement of competence, taking into consideration
organizational priorities.
8. Preference shall be given to applicants/candidates with permanent appointment.
9. The University shall adopt other human resource development interventions such as
the following:
a. Counseling
b. Mentoring
c. Job Rotation
10. No faculty shall go on foreign scholarship twice within a year, unless his/her return
of service has been served, except on case-to-case basis as shall be determined
judiciously by duly authorized body or official of the University.
11. Trainings, seminars/workshop related to the academic programs in the department
shall be distributed on a rotation basis and not confined to the discretion of the
chairman or head of office/unit.
12. The University shall endeavor to source externally for possible scholarship grants,
training, seminars, workshop whether local or abroad by continuously contacting
agencies like NEDA, foreign embassies, NGO’s and other government agencies.
Coverage
The following are covered by the Staff Development Policies, Rules and Regulations:
1. Faculty member on scholarship/official time, sponsored by the
University or other sponsoring agencies/donors whether solicited or granted;
2. Faculty member who study outside office hours or during weekdays including
Saturdays and Sundays;
3. Faculty member attending seminars, workshops and other training programs;
and
4. Faculty member applying for sabbatical/post doctoral leave and secondment.
