Temporary Dwelling, Everlasting Promise
drive-in movies with other Christian couples. Sister Turtle
broke the silence. “Olive Garden has the best Seafood
Alfredo.” Everyone agreed.
Halfway through the movie, Sister Turtle planted a
soft kiss on Brother Turtle’s cheek. He kissed her back.
Next thing you know, they were kissing. The other cou-
ples also fell into the trend.
Sister Turtle’s phone rang, interrupting her activity.
“Hi mom,” she answered.
“Hi, sweetie. I was just checking in on you. You
okay?” her mom asked.
“Yes, ma’am,” Sister Turtle replied. “I just wanted to
let you know that I love you, and I’m so proud of the
woman you’ve become. Okay, sweetie, enjoy the rest
of your evening. I’ll see you when you get home,” her
mom said.
“Thank you, mom, and I love you too,” Sister Turtle
said before hanging up the phone.
“Alright, everybody,” Brother Turtle said, “I’ve en-
joyed this wonderful evening, but I think I’ll be heading
to my car.”
“Sounds like a plan,” one of the coupled turtles said.
After arriving back at the church, where they had
left their cars, everyone said their goodbyes and gave
kisses before ending their beautiful evening. Brother Tur-
tle walked Sister Turtle to her car.
“I’ll call you as soon as I get home to let you know
that I made it safe,” she said. Brother Turtle smiled and
told her that he would be waiting.
Hurdle Six: Keeping Your Eyes on the Finish Line
Brother Rabbit no longer had a lead on Brother Tur-
tle. He made it to the last hurdle, which was keeping
his eyes on the finish line. Brother Rabbit was overcome
by the lack of fellowship, forgiveness, renewal of mind,
spending time in God’s word, temptations, and evil
