Temporary Dwelling, Everlasting Promise
little longer, slowly making his way out the door. As turtle
walked through the doors, there she was.
“Good evening, Brother Turtle. I was hoping to
catch a little bit of word,” she said as she approached
him. “Was it a good word? What did I miss?”
Brother Turtle said good evening and told her what
the pastor preached about. “Pastor spoke about us as
the body of Christ, encouraging us to seek first the king-
dom of God and his righteousness. Once putting God
and his righteousness first, everything else in our lives will
be well taken care of,” he explained to her.
“Thanks,” she said, “I really needed to hear that.
“That’s very comforting, Brother Turtle. I’ve been
meaning to commend you for your faithful walk with
Christ. I’m so inspired when I see you, and I pray for you
often.”
Brother Turtle smiled and replied, “Really?”
“Yes, really,” she said softly. Brother Turtle couldn’t
believe the words that sounded like romantic music to
his ears.
“I’ve meant to ask you something,” Brother Turtle
said slowly. “ask me what?” she said. He hesitated for a
second before asking, “Would it be okay if I, if I, I.. I..”
If you could what?” she interrupted anxiously.
“If I could call you sometime?” he finally said.
She smiled as she responded,
“That would be wonderful.” “Really?” he said shock-
ingly.
Yes, really,” she said. They both ended up exchang-
ing phone numbers.
This was the start of something beautiful. They con-
versed with each other all day night as they discussed
bible scriptures on the phone and had bible trivia at
night. After three months, Brother Turtle asked her if she
would like to go out on a double date. She was glad he
finally asked her after so long.
