Will the Real Christians Stand Up
you have a handful of caramel popcorn in your hand, so you
don’t have to sneak and eat them.’
Everyone laughed as Mrs. Sanchez continued sharing
her story.
“I ate the caramel popcorn as my husband stared at
me. ‘I can’t believe you, Honey.’ Of course, I can’t tell you
how bad I felt. It made me so emotional. After eating the car-
amel popcorn, the craving increased more intensely. ‘Babe,’
I said. ‘Don’t even think about it,’ my husband responded.
“’Babe, just a little more, please.’ ‘No can-do, Sweetie,’
he said. ‘After the pregnancy, I will go to Walmart and get
you as many bags as you want.’ Then the unbelievable hap-
pened. He started eating my caramel popcorn!” Everyone
laughed.
“‘Why are you looking at me like that, Sweetie?’ my hus-
band asked as I gave him a sad look. Then I burst into tears.
‘Come on, really?’ My husband asked softly. ‘You do not love
me. I’m getting ready to have your baby,’ I said while cry-
ing. ‘Honey that’s not true. The doctor said that you shouldn’t
be eating anything.’ My husband took a deep breath. ‘Here,
Sweetie, you can finish this bag, but after you complete the
rest of that caramel popcorn, we have to do what the doctor
requested. Deal?’ ‘Deal,’ I said.
“My husband kissed me on the lips and said, ‘And don’t
even tell me that I don’t love you. I’m just trying to follow the
doctor’s wishes, okay?’”
“Mrs. Sanchez,” Emilia said. “Yes, Sweetie.”
“Is there any way that you can run to the store and get
me some caramel popcorn?”
Everyone roared with laughter.
“I will run to the CVS across the street and get you some
caramel popcorn.”
