that he was overwhelmingly tired. So, I fought the temptation
and dozed off. As I dozed off, the nurse came in to do a rou-

tine check, waking my husband and I back up. My husband is
one that when his sleep is broken, it’s challenging for him to go
back to sleep. So, when the nurse left out, he was up. A few
minutes passed by, and out the corner of my eye, I felt him

staring at me. Thoughts began to bombard me.
“Does he know that I’ve been eating? Is he regretting
this pregnancy? What is he thinking? So I asked, “Sweetie, are
you okay? At this time, the hunger and the cravings for cara-
mel popcorn had become even stronger. Caramel popcorn,
by the way, is one of Diego’s favorite foods. I had to find a

way to get my husband out of the room. So, I began to think
about what I needed out of the car.
“Then it dawned on me. I didn’t have my cell phone.
‘Honey, I left my cell phone in the car, and I know that sev-
eral people have been trying to contact me. Can you?’ By this

time, my husband had gotten up and walked out of the hos-
pital room. That was my green light to get to the caramel pop-
corn that I had been so earnestly craving for. I grabbed my
purse out of the cabinet, searched for the caramel popcorn,
and there they were finally. My mouth watering,I reached in
the bag and grabbed a handful of the caramel popcorn.

‘Aha!’ my husband said as he burst back into the room.”
               Everyone laughed.
“‘Honey, really? I can’t believe you! I felt so bad and so
convicted. ‘The doctor told you that you should not be eat-
ing anything, and you’ve been playing me like a puppet the

entire time. Sweetie, please give me the bag.’ I gave my hus-
band the bag. ‘Sweetie, where is your purse?’ I told him it was
in the cabinet. He grabbed my purse out of the cabinet and
sat back down in the hospital room recliner. ‘And I know that
