“Dr. Chester!” the nurse shouted urgently as she knocked
softly and slightly opened the delivery room door.
“Yes,” Dr. Chester responded. “Delivery is taking place in
room 318.”
“On my way,” Dr. Chester said. “I’ll be back to check
on you in a second,” Dr. Chester said as he quickly exited the
hospital room.
“Adriana, can you please come here for a second?”
Emilia asked.
“Certainly,” Adriana responded. “Yes, how may I help?”
Adriana asked with a smile.
“Come a little closer, please,” Emilia whispered.
“Yes, and why are you whispering? Adriana whispered
back.
“There’s a $20 bill in my purse. Can you get me some
checker fries and a large strawberry milkshake?”
“Oh no, you’re not going to get me in trouble with Dr.
Chester.”
“Oh, come on, sis, please.”
“Nope, can’t do it. But as soon as you deliver a healthy
baby girl, or healthy baby boy, or twins or --”
“Oh no, please don’t,” Emilia said. Everyone laughed. “I
promise to grant your request,” he continued.
“See it your way then,” Emilia said with a frown on her
face.
“Emilia, I became much smarter when I had
Diego. I brought salt and vinegar chips, hot sausages,
and hid several other snacks deep down in a rather large
purse that I purchased strictly for that purpose, “said Mrs. San-
chez.
Everyone laughed.
