        This class is the introductory class for the C3O2 Academy. The focus of this course is to introduce basic child development psychology
        and theory to the students through an integrated curriculum. During the year, students will explore the five areas of development,
        parenting practices, discipline styles, careers in child development and major theorists and their studies. This course is not open to
        the general student body, as it is integrated with other specific classes that make up the Academy pathway.

        This course is designed to present the fundamentals of food preparation and the importance of meal management.  Other skills taught
        include use and care of equipment and appliances, safety in the kitchen, food sanitation, kitchen organization, food buying and
        preservation, use of consumer resources and agencies, and the relationship of nutrition and fitness to good health.

        This course is an extension of Consumer Foods and Nutrition.  It is designed for the student who would like to attain advanced skills in
        cooking experiences, food nutrition and preparation, meal planning, appliances, food service, and foods related career exploration.
        Students need to be available for projects specific to individual school sites. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Consumer Foods.

        This advanced foods course prepares students in food production, preparation, customer service and teamwork skills for the job
        market or transition to post-secondary education programs at the community college, private, technical or trade school, and/or a four
        year college or university.  Instruction includes planning, selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing, testing, serving and selling of quality
        food products.  Additional study areas include nutritive  values, safety and sanitation, use and care of commercial equipment,
        management of food establishments, cost and profitability analysis.  Students develop and demonstrate competencies while operation
        the on–site restaurant, Eagle Café. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Consumer Foods & Nutrition CTE.

        This class is the second career-technical class for the Child-Centered Careers and Occupational Opportunities (C3O2) Academy.
        During the year, the students study major physical, cognitive, and social-emotional developmental stages of children from
        conception through adolescence.  The principle theories of development, the impact of families, school and culture as well as
        atypical development are also addressed.  This course is relevant for students interested in a career working with children.  Students
        will also explore these careers while working with an adult mentor who has a similar career.  This course incorporates FCCLA
        standards and is on the UC a-g list.
