NANA HUBLERS SUGAR COOKIES

         Ingredients
        1/2 cup butter                                             2 teaspoons baking powder
        1 cup sugar                                                1/2 teaspoon salt
        1 eggs                                                     3 tablespoons milk
        2 cups flour                                                1/2 teaspoon vanilla


        Instructions
        Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix. Combine flour, salt and baking powder
        and add to the mixture. Then, add milk and vanilla. Chill for a few hours. Roll out and
        use your cookie cutters. Put cookies on non greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10
        minutes.


        I usually double this recipe at a holiday. Nan, Helen Aungst Hubler gave me this
        recipe. I did not use it until  I was married. This is the recipe everyone loves. I make
        the cookies at all holidays. The whole family takes part at Christmas cutting out their
        Christmas shapes, decorating, baking and especially eating the cookie dough. These
        also were the cookies that Santa got on Christmas Eve. A lot of good memories have
        gone into using this recipe. Since I am a Nana now, my grandson, Joe loves to carry
        on the tradition.

        NANA HUBLERS JAM COOKIES

         Ingredients
        1/2 cup Crisco                                             1/3 cup sugar
        1/2 teaspoon salt                                          1 teaspoon vanilla
        1 egg beaten                                               1 2/3 cup flour


        Instructions
        Cream Crisco, egg, vanilla and sugar and then add flour. Drop from teaspoon onto
        greased cookie sheet. Put a dent in the middle of each cookie and add your favorite
        jam. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
